THE FIELD GUIDE
Dawnwalker Corruption Levels and Unlock Requirements
Corruption reaches level 15 after 460 total progress. Feeding and blood items, including animal blood, advance it. Finish feeding and leave combat if a level is delayed; skills still have their own requirements.
What does Corruption unlock?
Vampirism skills and abilities can require a particular Corruption level before you learn a rank. Corruption grows separately from Coen’s ordinary character level and experience.
Higher Corruption does not automatically purchase a skill. Previous ranks, skill points, learning time and a named-blood unlock can remain outstanding. Read the desired rank’s full requirements after the level increases.
Does animal blood increase Corruption?
Yes. Feeding on animals such as deer and rabbits adds Corruption progress. Human blood raises it faster, and fully draining a human adds more progress than stopping after Voracious Bite leaves the victim unconscious.
Blood consumables can also contribute. Murohn Blood, Kobold’s Blood and the three crafted blood infusions list a Corruption increase alongside their recovery effect. Choose them for the healing you need while accounting for the resulting progression.
A feed is not a fixed one-level reward. The amount gained depends on its source, while the amount needed increases at later levels.
Can feeding increase Corruption at full health?
Yes. Feeding can still add Corruption when your Blood Reserve is full, so you do not need to take damage before using a feeding opportunity. Keep some blood vials for fights and crafting instead of using your entire supply just to gain progress.
Hastened Corruption offers a separate bonus. Its first rank increases Corruption filling speed by 30%. Its second rank, which requires Corruption 4 and the previous rank, lets you Overfeed by drinking at full health: you gain a temporary health segment and 50% faster Corruption filling while Overfed. The temporary extra segment requires that learned perk; ordinary full-health feeding does not grant it automatically.
All 15 Corruption thresholds
The middle column is the progress needed to gain that one level. The final column adds every threshold from level 0. These are progression values, rather than counts of victims, Blood Reserve segments or campaign time segments. The table uses PC build 25232147.
| New level | Progress for this level | Total from level 0 |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 5 | 5 |
| 2 | 10 | 15 |
| 3 | 15 | 30 |
| 4 | 25 | 55 |
| 5 | 25 | 80 |
| 6 | 25 | 105 |
| 7 | 25 | 130 |
| 8 | 35 | 165 |
| 9 | 35 | 200 |
| 10 | 35 | 235 |
| 11 | 45 | 280 |
| 12 | 45 | 325 |
| 13 | 45 | 370 |
| 14 | 45 | 415 |
| 15 | 45 | 460 |
Calculate the progress still needed
Use the threshold for the level you are trying to reach, then subtract the progress already held toward it. At Corruption 7, for example, level 8 needs 35 progress. If you have 20 toward that increase, you need 15 more.
235 total progress
The cumulative threshold for the target, level 10.
Subtract 130 + 20
130 completed through level 7, plus 20 already held toward level 8.
85 progress left
235 − 130 − 20 = 85. This is progress, not a guaranteed number of feeds.
Why has the Corruption level not advanced?
The normal level-up flow waits while Coen is actively feeding or still in combat. Enough progress can be present before the level display advances. Ending a feed also asks the game to check progression again.
- Finish the current feeding interaction.
- Leave combat and allow the level-up flow to run.
- Check the level and then reopen the skill rank you were trying to learn.
Extra progress carries toward the next level
Gaining a level consumes its threshold and keeps excess progress. A large gain can therefore continue to count toward the following level. Focus itself is not the final blocking condition in this progression flow; active feeding and combat are the relevant states.
Check all requirements when a rank remains locked
Scarlet Shield rank 2 requires Corruption 6, whereas Blood Surge rank 2 requires Corruption 10. Both also require their first blood unlock and the normal purchase costs when learned through the skill tree.
| Value or condition | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Corruption level | Access to ranks with a minimum Vampirism progression requirement. |
| Progress toward the next level | How close the next Corruption increase is. |
| Blood Reserve | Coen’s current health in vampire form. |
| Skill points and time segments | The price of purchasing a learned rank. |
| Named blood and prerequisite ranks | Additional access conditions for the specific skill or ability. |
