THE FIELD GUIDE

Silver Trader: Where to Sell Silver

Take silver to the specialist in Svartrau’s Neustadt district. If he will not trade, introduce yourself using a silver-trade letter or reach Notorious Infamy 4. Selling silver for a combined 1,000 denarii earns Smuggler.

Find the house in Neustadt

Enter Neustadt from the Middens and look at the first house on your right. The Silver Trader works inside; visiting him during the day is the approach used for the shop route.

The map marks his house as a location. It gets you to the right building; the conversation inside determines whether his trading menu is available.

Open the shop with a letter or Infamy

There are alternative introductions. Read Letter with a Tip or Stained Letter, then use the dialogue about knowing that he trades in silver. You only need one of these leads. Notorious Infamy at level 4 provides another way to open the business.

If the conversation still refuses a trade, check that you read the letter rather than only picking it up, and return to the silver-trade dialogue. Carrying silver by itself is not the introduction.

Open the shop with a letter or Infamy
Your routeWhat to do
Letter with a TipRead the letter from the Into the Den cache, then tell the merchant you know about his silver trade.
Stained LetterRead the directions to the Neustadt house and use the silver-trade introduction.
Notorious Infamy 4Use the Infamy access route if you have reached this level. The letters are not an additional requirement.

Follow the Into the Den lead

Begin at the Into the Den investigation area in Laslea Glen and follow the Tattered Letter toward the hidden supply cache. At the hut and clearing, inspect the flat stone marked with an X, take Letter with a Tip from beneath it, and read it before visiting Neustadt.

Keep the two letters distinct: the tattered instructions lead to the cache, while Letter with a Tip introduces the silver business. Stained Letter supplies a separate introduction and the house directions.

Which items can you sell as silver?

These nine valuables belong to the silver trade. Save the ones you want to collect to your journal, or open an item to compare its inventory icon. You do not need one of every type for Smuggler.

The amounts below are base item values. The actual shop quote can change with item level and trading effects; use the money received from a sale when tracking the achievement.

Make a collection stop at the silver cache

Finders Keepers offers a useful bundle: Lump of Silver, Silver Cross, Silver Chalice and Silver Brooch. Begin with Treasure Map: Silver Cache, found among the skeletons at the bottom of The Cursed Chasm.

Reading the map starts the search. The map marker is an area reference, so use the route landmarks to find the place to dig.

  1. From Coward’s Path Shrine, head east until the route forks.
  2. Turn north toward the abandoned wooden cabin, then continue north past it.
  3. Look for the large rock formation in the clearing. Deal with the wolves and their Pack Leader.
  4. Dig up the cache and take the silver back to the Neustadt buyer.

Two more stops that fit other quests

The waterfall cave near the great bridge northwest of Svartrau Outskirts contains a manumit silver stash. Mysterious Instruction leads there through the saints’ biographies; the skeleton also holds Arbiter’s Medallion.

During Tiny Dancer in Svartrau, free the sanzhana from the upstairs cage and search the merchant’s room for silver before leaving. These two stops contain silver loot, but they are not a promise that every one of the nine valuables will appear there.

Count silver-sale income toward Smuggler

Smuggler requires 1,000 denarii earned by selling silver. The qualifying sales can add up across visits. Your current wallet balance is a different number, and selling ordinary equipment or gold valuables does not turn that income into a silver sale.

Miser has a separate target: accumulating 5,000 denarii. A wallet showing 1,000 does not, by itself, establish that Smuggler’s silver-sales requirement has been met.

Check the amount paid by the merchant, then mark the achievement complete when your game confirms it. Your journal can keep the objective and a note of where you stopped; it does not read the game’s sales counter.

Two money achievements measure different things.
  • Smuggler

Earn a combined 1,000 denarii from silver sales.

  • Miser

Accumulate a balance of 5,000 denarii.

Keep quest components out of the silver bundle

Silver Cross is one of the sale valuables above. Silver Crucifix is a different quest object. Flask of Quicksilver also has its own use as an Arbiter armour component; its name does not place it in this nine-item silver list.

The Silver Trader can also buy ordinary junk and gold valuables. You can bring those goods on the same trip, while keeping their proceeds separate from Smuggler. Shiny Tooth uses its own buyer and the Pearly and Precious selling route.

Check equipment offers while you are there

The Purge and The Kingslayer have recorded Silver Trader purchase routes. Look at his current equipment selection before planning a purchase: stock and item levels can vary.

Choose the sword around the bonuses you will use. The Purge supports repeated sword attacks and Omniblock; The Kingslayer rewards Perfect Blocks and careful stamina use. Their equipment entries retain the other acquisition options.
