THE FIELD GUIDE
The Price of Magic: Ritual, Bracelet and Henrik
Investigate the stone circle during the day, find the ritual book and Torn Out Page, then use Astral Communion at the central pillar and defeat the spectres. Keep the Mysterious Bracelet reward unequipped until you have shown Marcus's Pendant to Henrik: equipping it after the ritual starts a follow-up in which he dies.

Plan the ritual and Henrik visit as separate steps
The reward has both equipment effects and a story consequence. If you want Henrik's conversation about Marcus, collect the Pendant, finish your investigation and visit his bookshop before equipping the Mysterious Bracelet. You can earn the reward and leave it in your inventory while making that visit.
This order preserves the conversation while letting you compare the two bracelets first. Trying the new reward on your character is already an equipment choice; reading its stats in the armour catalogue lets you assess the upgrade without making that choice in the game.
Find the stone circle and investigate during the day
Travel southwest from The Swamp Menhirs Shrine in The Silts to the unfinished ritual site. Approach the body and central stone pillar, then use Focus to inspect the scene.
Both Compel Soul and the ritual interaction use your daytime Witchcraft abilities. If you discover the site at night, keep track of what you collected and return during the day to question the body and finish the ritual. A missing daytime action does not mean you need a different set of objects.
Match each object to the clue used with Compel Soul
Search around the central pillar before questioning the body in front of it. Several collected objects give you a catalyst with a different name. Use the catalyst names below to recognise the available memory topics.
The note behind the pillar and the half-burnt torch are separate finds. The Torn Out Page supplies missing ritual instructions; the Discarded Torch is a Compel Soul clue. Picking up one does not complete the other task.
- Use Compel Soul on the body and work through the available memory topics. The Golden Chain belongs to the Pendant investigation; it is not the keepsake you show Henrik.
- The Bracelet collected here is ordinary wearable equipment. The Mysterious Bracelet is the enchanted reward at the end of the ritual.
| What to collect | Where to look | Clue for the body |
|---|---|---|
| Pendant | Beside the body. | Golden Chain |
| De Vocatione et Ligatione | To the right of the central pillar. | Bookmark |
| Bracelet | On the ground in front of the pillar. | Gift Box |
| Half-burnt Discarded Torch | Behind the pillar, beside the note. | Discarded Torch |
Bring the book and loose page together, then defend yourself
You need both De Vocatione et Ligatione and the Torn Out Page. The journal can send you to find the page or to find the book, depending on which one you picked up first. Check the named missing object instead of restarting your search around the entire circle.
The book describes the protective charm Marcus intended to make, and the loose page provides its spoken ending. Marcus's Journal explains his reason for trying it: he wanted to protect Henrik from people connected to his past.
- Find the book to the right of the pillar and the loose page behind it, then finish reading the instructions.
- Prepare for combat before interacting with the central pillar. Use Astral Communion there during the day to complete the ritual.
- Defeat the spectres that appear. Clearing the encounter completes the quest and gives 100 XP and the Mysterious Bracelet.
- Leave the reward unequipped if you still want to show Henrik the Pendant. Completing the combat does not require testing the new bracers.
Compare the upgrade before accepting its story consequence
Both bracelets occupy the Hands slot and use Light armour. At their base values, the completed reward adds four armour and several bonuses, but equipping it also matters to Henrik. Compare the benefits before replacing the ordinary version.
- The magic-damage-reduction difference is one percentage point. It applies only to magic damage, not to every attack.
- The extra magic-damage bonus is useful to compare for a casting build. If you mainly deal weapon damage, weigh the armour and mortal-target bonus against the effects on your current hand armour.
- If the conversation is your priority, postpone equipping the reward until after the bookshop visit. Finishing the quest and choosing to wear its reward are separate decisions.
| Base property | Bracelet | Mysterious Bracelet |
|---|---|---|
| Armour | 22 | 26 |
| Weight | 1.0 | 1.1 |
| Magic damage reduction | +2% | +3% |
| Damage against mortals | +4% | +5% |
| Magic damage | No listed bonus | +5% |
Show the Pendant to Henrik at his bookshop
Go to Henrik's bookshop near Altenmarkt Square in Svartrau while he is still available. Keep the Pendant in your inventory and select ‘Do you recognise this pendant?’ The dedication links it to Marcus, and Coen can tell Henrik what happened.
You can say ‘He really cared about you’ or ‘He was a fool’. Both responses reach Henrik's closing thanks. ‘I found a book, too’ opens a question about De Vocatione et Ligatione, then returns to the same conversation choices.
Ask about the book before finishing the conversation if you want the extra background. Then choose the response that fits how you want Coen to speak to Henrik.
Recognise what changes after equipping the reward
After the ritual is complete, equipping the Mysterious Bracelet starts the follow-up in which Henrik dies. The equipment decision comes before the scene at his shop; reaching the shop while still wearing it is not the only condition to plan around.
On returning to the bookshop, red Anachora moths cover the door. Speak with the old woman outside. She describes runes cut into his body and says it was taken to the cemetery.
If your aim is to hear Henrik's own response to the Pendant, make that visit before trying on the completed bracelet. The ordinary Bracelet, the Gift Box clue and simply carrying the enchanted reward are distinct from equipping the Mysterious Bracelet after the ritual.
Use the current objective to find the missing step
The investigation uses object names, catalyst names and two bracelet versions. Match the stage first so you do not keep searching for an item you already have under a different role.
| What is stopping you | What to check |
|---|---|
| Compel Soul or the ritual action is unavailable | Return during the day and target the body for Compel Soul or the central pillar for Astral Communion. |
| The journal asks for the lost page | You found the book first. Search behind the pillar for the Torn Out Page. |
| The journal asks for the book | You found the page first. Collect De Vocatione et Ligatione to the right of the pillar. |
| You have the torch but cannot finish the instructions | Discarded Torch is a catalyst. The missing written ending is on the separate Torn Out Page. |
| Henrik does not offer the Pendant question | Check that you have the Pendant itself, not just Golden Chain, and that the conversation is still available. |
| The shop has red moths and an old woman outside | Speak to her for the aftermath. Check whether you equipped the completed reward before returning for Henrik's conversation. |
